Easter can be a costly holiday for families with little kids. Our inclination is to get the “deluxe” Easter Basket with all the “stuff”. We usually end up with a few cheap toys, a bunch of candy, and a chocolate bunny. A less expensive and more fun alternative is to purchase the least expensive empty baskets you can find on sale, (or even better, let the kids make baskets from old cereal boxes and construction paper) and a dozen plastic Easter eggs in a medium and large size. If you have more than two kids, buy an extra two dozen. Also buy a cheap package or two of Easter grass. If you have a paper shredder, make your own “grass” from old colorful papers. Don’t purchase the chocolate bunny or any Easter candy until one or two days before Easter, they’ll be about half price by then.
